cally spooner “sweat, shame, etc” | saturday studio “flesh tint”

This Saturday Studio focuses on the work in Cally Spooner’s “Sweat, Shame, Etc.”, in particular drawing from the lines of spray tan and pencil that create datums across the walls of the space as they track personal data of the artist. They also reference her small drawings of bodies stretching in different positions, with isolated and repeated body parts choreographed on one page. In this workshop, an open floor space covered with vellum—both stage and canvas—for stretching and drawing one’s own body with skin-pigmented pastels. The making of the work engages participants in shared process where the awkwardness, play, and interaction with other bodies within the space informs the work.
